For our final post featuring concepts for our Virginia-Highlands project, we’re wrapping up with the most personal spaces in the home — the primary bedroom and bath. These two rooms are all about retreat and restoration, balancing modern simplicity with inviting warmth.

The primary bedroom leans into soft, sun-washed tones — muted taupes, sandy woods, and warm whites. It’s quiet but layered, with just enough texture to feel cozy and lived-in. Vertical wood detailing adds rhythm and warmth, while subtle built-ins keep the space clean and intentional.

The contrasts here are gentle: natural wood against light walls, diffused lighting that glows instead of glares. Minimal but never cold. Calm but never plain. The kind of space that makes you exhale.

The primary bath continues that sense of calm but shifts a little cooler — a soft, spa-like retreat. Think gray-greens, pale neutrals, and natural materials. Symmetry in the mirrors and windows lends a tailored, architectural feel, while a freestanding tub anchors the space as a sculptural focal point.

It’s a serene mix of tones and textures — cool meeting warm, matte meeting smooth. Tranquil, fresh, and quietly luxurious.

Together, the bedroom and bath form a private world within the home — grounded in natural materials, layered in tone and texture, and designed for ease. The bedroom embraces; the bath restores. Stay tuned as we unveil the next step in this project: moodboards!
