Interior Designer
Atelier Davis is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Architectural / Interior Architectural Designer to manage multiple residential and boutique commercial projects from concept through installation. This role requires strong design sensibility, technical drawing expertise, proactive client communication, and the ability to independently manage a full project workload.
The ideal candidate is comfortable attending client meetings, producing comprehensive drawing packages, managing specifications and procurement coordination, and supporting construction administration — while maintaining strong time management and prioritization skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client & Project Management
- Lead and manage client communication, including weekly project updates
- Attend and lead client meetings; take thorough notes and manage follow-ups
- Prioritize tasks to maintain project momentum and avoid bottlenecks
- Clearly communicate timeline shifts, roadblocks, or workload constraints
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously (8–10 active projects)
Design & Documentation
- Develop architectural and interior drawing packages, including:
- Floor plans
- Furniture layouts
- Tile and finish drawings and schedules
- Millwork drawings
- Custom details
- Produce CAD and SketchUp models
- Create presentation materials and client-facing design decks
- Develop finish, fixture, and FFE schemes aligned with client preferences
- Utilize hand sketching or digital sketch tools (e.g., Morpholio) to communicate design intent
Specifications & Procurement Coordination
- Write and manage specifications in Studio Designer
- Input and maintain approved selections in Studio Designer
- Coordinate with vendors and custom fabricators
- Prepare purchasing proposals (and assist with purchasing as needed)
Construction Administration & Installation
- Support construction administration and site coordination
- Assist during installations and accessorizing
- Participate in project photo shoots
Qualifications
- Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture
- 3–6+ years of professional experience in high-end residential or boutique commercial design
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp
- Experience with Studio Designer a plus (or similar specification software)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently within a small team environment
- Strong design sensibility with the ability to work within a client’s aesthetic
- Ability to hand draw and space plan
