Jess here! I’m excited to give you a recap of my exciting trip to Paris last month as well as a big collab update!
This was my first time at Déco Off and I really enjoyed the show (I was supposed to go a few years ago and got thwarted by Covid). Admittedly I didn’t do all the things, and I veered off the beaten path quite a bit but I think that’s what made it great. First of all, find a friend to be your partner in crime. I went with my designer friend Matt Tsang. We made a bunch of restaurant reservations at some great spots (key for getting an amazing meal in Paris) and stayed in airbnbs very close to all the Déco Off activity.
We also found time to do some touristy things including going to Sainte Chapelle, Musée de l’Orangerie, and the Bourse de Commerce as well as some shopping at some fun local boutiques, le Bon Marché and the flea markets.
A few additional highlights of the show were a visit to the Invisible Collection at Feau Boisseries, a beautiful reception at a private home hosted by McGraw, and the American Party in Paris.
And, of course, saving the best for last was the launch of our AAPI Design Alliance x Lala Curio collaboration, which I am so excited to finally share with you!
Inspired by my Chinese cultural heritage and childhood spent in Hong Kong, I designed a wallpaper that highlights the quieter natural landscape that surrounds the iconic metropolitan city. My design, entitled Harbor & Stone, has soft yet exaggerated hues combined with oxidized metal leaf and is available in three colorways–see them each below, along with an amazing install photo. It’s available now for custom orders, along with the incredible papers designed by some of my fellow AAPIDA friends.
