Now that the REAL SIMPLE Home 2024 is coming to a close, we’re reflecting on an incredible journey that culminated in a true highlight: our den was chosen for the cover of Real Simple magazine’s October issue! It’s a real pinch-me moment for the Atelier Davis team, and we’re thrilled to share the details of the den and kids’ room we created for this Brooklyn brownstone show home. Each space embodies our commitment to merging sophistication with warmth, showcasing a design approach that’s both elevated and approachable.
The Den
The den concept focused on rich textures and saturated colors. We wanted this room to feel layered and inviting, with details that add character while maintaining a refined look. A standout element? The lush velvet sectional in deep blue – its sumptuous fabric and grounding color instantly create a statement. We balanced the boldness with organic textures like the rattan pendant, and metallic accents add a hint of eclectic charm. Shoutout to our fantastic vendor partners listed below for bringing our vision to life!

The Kids’ Room
For the kids’ room, we embraced whimsy with a grown-up twist. A lively wallpaper set the tone, and we introduced a mix of vibrant accents and versatile furniture. The palette we chose feels both youthful and adaptable – a bold blue that blends seamlessly with natural wood tones. The platform bed maximizes the room’s function, with cozy bedding, and custom hideaway drapery adding softness. Our goal here was to create a room that sparks imagination, with practical touches that could evolve as a child grows.
