This summer was packed—with travel, design inspiration, and some unexpected moments that reminded me why I love what I do.
First stop: New York City for the Design Leadership Network Forum, where the big themes were… well, let’s just say the economy isn’t exactly doing us favors. But the real takeaway? The importance of showing up authentically—especially on social media. Loved that. While in town, I met up with designer friends, shared some Nest Studio goodies, and swung by the gorgeous Soane Britain showroom for a little visual refresh.
Then I hopped a train to Boston for some R&R (and yes, a birthday barbecue for a friend’s cat—20 years young!). I also hit the DLN Forum Retreat, which was full of business insights, creative sessions, and great meals with great people. Boston highlights included a visit to the ICA and my forever-favorite: the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. That courtyard? Still magic.
Next up: family time in Dallas and Fort Worth. We snapped a photo in front of my grandmother’s Tudor-revival cottage, and I was reminded just how charming it is—from the stained glass to the layered brickwork. Those little details stick with you.
We wrapped it all up with a quick trip to 30A on the Florida Panhandle. If you know, you know. Between Seaside, Alys Beach, and Rosemary Beach, it’s a designer’s dream of New Urbanist planning and clean, coastal architecture. Fun fact: I wrote my college thesis on Seaside and got to interview Liz Plater-Zyberk and Michael Graves back in the day!
Now we’re easing into August—that short window of calm before fall kicks into high gear with installs, events, and kid chaos.
Hope your summer’s been just as full of inspiration (and maybe a few weird surprises too).
