This year, Atelier Davis had the privilege of participating in two exceptional showhouses: the REAL SIMPLE Home 2024 and the 2024 Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Southeastern Designer Showhouse. Both projects brought unique challenges and opportunities, but the results underscore the transformative power of thoughtful design. As our last blog post of the year, let’s revisit these inspiring spaces and the journeys that brought them to life!
REAL SIMPLE Home 2024: Brooklyn Traditional Meets Practical Design
The REAL SIMPLE Home 2024 took us to a Crown Heights area Brooklyn brownstone where we reimagined the den and a kids’ room. These spaces were full of potential but needed a dose of practicality to meet modern family needs — all while honoring the home’s historic charm.
The den felt dark and undefined, lacking a sense of purpose. Meanwhile, the kids’ room’s narrow footprint presented a layout conundrum. Both spaces awaited a creative spark.
In the den, we layered textures and incorporated rich, warm tones to craft a cozy yet stylish retreat. The kids’ room required a strategic approach to maximize its layout. By defining zones for sleeping, playing, and storage, we made every inch both functional and fun. Vibrant accents and clever details brought these spaces to life.
Special thanks to the entire Real Simple team (Erica Finamore, Hannah Baker, and Misty Chandler) and all of our incredible product sponsors: Minted, Rove Concepts, Wovn Home, CB2, Aloka, Valspar, Rhinne, Urban Outfitters, Soho House, Pooky Lights, Coley Home, Sundays Furniture, Lamps Plus, The Citizenry, Houzz, My Ellie Beans, and Nest Studio
Southeastern Designer Showhouse: Classic Meets Contemporary
For the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle 2024 Southeastern Designer Showhouse in Atlanta’s tony Tuxedo Park neighborhood, we transformed the lower-level lounge and adjacent powder roominto spaces brimming with modern elegance.
The lounge started as a stark, white-walled room with no furnishings and minimal architectural details. The powder room was equally nondescript — a true blank canvas.
In the lounge, bold textiles, warm brown tones, and curated art turned a cavernous space into a sophisticated haven. The powder room’s compact size became its greatest asset as we leaned into an intimate, jewel-box aesthetic with custom light fixtures and elegant hardware.
Special thanks to the entire Atlanta Fine Homes & Lifestyle team and Lauren Iverson, and to all of our local and national product sponsors: Eve and Staron, Wovn Home, Samual and Sons, Benjamin Moore, 9 and 19, Elysian Collective, Grant Trick, Revolution Fabrics, Luru Home, Vanderhurd, Design Social, Rule of Three, Leah O’Connell Textiles, Mous Studio, Gillian Bryce, Lemont Vintage, Corn Upholstery, Alex Conroy Textiles, Atlanta Used Furniture, City Issue, Spalding Next Fine Art, and Nest Studio
Designing through challenges is what we do best. From the Real Simple Home kids’ room’s narrow layout to ensuring the Southeastern Designer Showhouse lounge felt cozy rather than cavernous, every obstacle pushed us to think bigger and bolder. These “before” photos remind us just how far thoughtful interior design can take a space!
Which “before and after” wowed you the most? Stay tuned for even more exciting projects in 2025 — we can’t wait to share what’s next. Until then, Happy New Year from all of us at Atelier Davis!
