Over the past couple weeks, we’ve shared both the primary bedroom and bathroom schemes for our latest project in Nyack, NY, in the Hudson River Valley just north of NYC. Today, we’re turning to the basement living area, where we’ve proposed two distinct directions: one centered on play, the other on relaxation.

The first scheme leans into a game room concept, anchored by a game table surrounded by plush chairs. Striped flooring adds a durable, graphic foundation for everyday use, while a custom built-in daybed offers a comfortable place to unwind. Throughout, we continue to honor the home’s mid-century bones while exploring a rich range of color inspired by its natural surroundings.

In the second scheme, a large sectional grounds the space, creating a more lounge-forward environment. Terrazzo flooring brings both durability and texture, and red and blue accents introduce a subtle sense of playfulness without overwhelming the room.
