Well, not much time for blogging lately. Today was spent rushing around fixing issues with kitchen cabinet measurements, purchasing a new sink (in lieu of the one that was mis-ordered by the showroom) in time for counter top templating, and dealing with a lost drivers license that was later found. We move in on Saturday and there is A LOT to be done before then. Here are a few photos of the house... Read more

Soyoung from Dogear Press is back today with a little autumnal inspiration:We’ve had the first hints of fall with wonderfully cooler weather here in New YorkCity, and it has me dreaming about a long weekend getaway to New England. I’vealways wanted to do a trip to take in the fall foliage, but have yet to do so. Admiring thegorgeous autumn trees (my digital SLR would definitely make the trip with... Read more
Yes, that's what I'm calling our amazing living room built-in that's happening. Prior to construction that wall looked like this. This is what it will look like when it's all said and done (plus a few accessories, books and some window treatments). The built-in-behemoth houses a coat closet, AC registers, window seats, AV equipment, lighting, bookshelves, and a TV. I think the only thing that's... Read more

My obsession of the season is tiny little animal prints on clothes. I can't get enough. And if you have kids (which I do, obviously), they love 'em! ("Mommy, why do you have elephants on your shirt? You're so silly, Mommy!") I recently found a bunch of floaty scarves with owls on them that make perfect end-of-year gifts for my kids' teachers: playful, but right on target for these hipster... So a few weeks back I posted a photoshopped version of the outside of our new house. Right now it's sort of a dirty off white. I was considering painting it grey, but in reality, the charcoal that I would prefer is too dark for painting vinyl siding (supposedly dark colors can absorb heat and cause the siding to warp). So in re-thinking the colors, my new solution is to power wash the outside and... Read more

Well, Labor Day came and went and I can't believe summer is officially over. Here in New Jersey, the heat is still rearing its head and I'm trying to take advantage of it as much as possible before the crisp fall days set in (something I'm looking forward to after 4 + years in Cali). I recently discovered a tucked away playground in Hoboken with a fun little water park. Been taking Bryan there on... Read more
My sister-in-law Soyoung from Dogear Press is back this week, helping me fill in while I attempt to keep our renovation under control. Today she's giving us some masculine party inspiration:This year, my husband (who also happens to be Jess’s brother!) and I didn’t get the chance to properly celebrate his birthday, and I’ve been feeling a bit guilty about it ever since. If we had a spare... Read more
Our Labor Day weekend was fun and relaxing. Dinner with friends, bagels and lox at the Hoboken waterfront overlooking the city, staying in for movie night and then culminating in a block party on our future block in Millburn. We met a lot of great neighbors and confirmed the fact that we are moving into a great neighborhood full of fun families and tons of kids. How did you spend your last... Read more
