Silver is the new black

Z Gallerie has some pretty sweet stuff right now. Perhaps it's because they don't send out catalogs (unless I'm missing out on something) but I always forget about Z Gallerie as an option.  Sometimes they can be a little heavy on the bling, but I'm liking some of these silvered pieces in their current collection.Pascual Coffee tableSequoia Console TableFrancesca HeadboardDylan Table Lamp Read more

The Shelves…

Are finally complete and more or less populated with books and accessories.  Last weekend was prep and assembly and this weekend was putting everything on the shelves (hence the delay).  Morgan's original instructions were more or less correct. However, I did find a few things to be different in our shelving scenario.  Here are a few things I learned:- The pipe fittings are 1/2" but that is the... Read more

TBD Art Project

So a while back Scott and I encountered this ridiculous sale at Blick Art Supply. We were in the market for a very large stretched canvas for our living room. The sale was such that the more canvases you bought, the more you saved. We walked out of the store with one 6'x7' canvas and twenty 4"X 4" canvases which cost about 30% less in total than had we bought the large canvas alone. After bringing... Read more

More improvements

Well, I haven't gotten to posting about our DIY wall shelves that we did over the weekend. Waiting to populate the shelves with books and accessories before I officially unveil them. Along with the shower curtain, we got the final large piece for the baby's room - the Ny Chair Rocker. I was trying to convince myself to go with something more economical but everything out there baby rocker wise... Read more

Yay!

I just found out that I won the Saffron Marigold giveway over at Emily Henderson's blog.  Super excited.  It was hard to decide what I wanted - they have such a great collection of beautiful Indian textiles.  In the end, I chose this awesome Dance O Peacock table cloth. It will be a great addition to my entertaining arsenal. Thanks Emily! Read more

Happy Labor Day

This weekend was full of DIY and home improvement. When we had the guest room wall built a couple months ago, we had our contractor replace the wavy glass shower enclosure with a more traditional L-shaped rod (better for bathing future baby and more in keeping with the style of our house).  We got clear shower curtain liners but hadn't really gone beyond that.  I found this great Tokyo Garden... Friday Filaments

Last weekend we stopped in at World Marketon our way to the hardware store. As usual, they had some great finds. I had been searching for some sort of light fixture for our powder room - the old ugly one was discarded when Scott's parents painted the room. I wanted something more pendant-like (versus a flush mount) but that didn't hang too low. Also, it had to illuminate the room sufficiently. So... Read more

More DIY

So before I get so baby belly big that I can't move at all, we figured we had better get a few more home improvement projects crossed off the list. This weekend should be our DIY Home Depot Shelving extravaganza (with some Labor Day bocce ball festivities thrown in).  I've already featured Morgan from the Brick House's DIY chandeliers. I have not attempted the chandelier as yet, but we are going... Read more

Herringbone Table

A friend just forwarded me this awesome table that Sarah Summers created as DIY project. It was recently featured on Design Sponge. Now, I have enough DIY's and other tasks that need to be completed prior to TBD's arrival, so sadly I won't be able to add this to the list. With a brass base this would look pretty fabulous in our living / dining space (perhaps something to put on the concept board... Read more

Area Rug Roundup

I'm working on putting together a concept board for our living room. Scott loved the board I did for the Baby's Room so much that he decided I should do one for each area of our house. Now some areas are simpler and therefore don't need boards, but I've tired of the orange in the living room, so I think putting a board together for my new grey / wheat scheme is not a bad idea. I've been looking... Read more
